Raindance Maker

What Is the Raindance AI Trend?

The Raindance AI trend is a TikTok format where AI puts two people into a sunny seaside pier performance set to “Raindance” by Dave featuring Tems. One person starts seated on the pier; the other sings most of the close-ups. It is not an official Dave or Tems project, “Raindance” is not an AI song, and the pier clips people recast are fan-made AI videos, not footage from the official music video.

What you see in a Raindance AI video

Most versions follow the same structure: a wide shot of one person sitting at the end of a wooden pier, then a second person singing to the camera by the water, a shared moment on the sand, a wide shot of the two together on the pier and a sunset shot from behind. The fun is in who gets cast: couples, best friends, cartoon characters and brand mascots have all been dropped into the same performance.

The two roles, shot by shot

We measured the cuts in the 29-second community remake that Raindance Maker uses as its template (Tyler’s Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders version). The table shows who is on screen in each shot. Person 1 is the seated performer; Person 2 sings the close-ups.

TimeShotWho is on screen
0:00–0:04Wide: end of the pier, facing the seaPerson 1, seated
0:04–0:07Close-up by the waterPerson 2, singing
0:07–0:10Two-shot on the sandPerson 2 singing beside Person 1
0:10–0:18Close-ups and medium shots on the pierPerson 2
0:18–0:21Wide: far end of the pierBoth
0:21–0:25Medium close-upPerson 2
0:25–0:28Sunset on the beach, from behindBoth, seated
0:28–0:29Two-shot on the sandBoth

That is why the photo order matters: the photo you give the singing role carries most of the screen time and every close-up.

Three ways to join the trend

  1. Recast two photos with AI. Upload one photo per role and let a generator replace both performers. This is what Raindance Maker does; see how to make a Raindance AI video.
  2. Film it yourself. Find a pier at golden hour and act out both roles, then add the song in the TikTok editor.
  3. Use a CapCut template. Templates sync clips or photos you already have to the song; they do not turn still photos into two people performing on a pier.

Raindance Maker is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with Dave, Tems, their labels or the creator of the reference remake.

FAQ

Is Raindance an AI song?

No. “Raindance” is a song by Dave featuring Tems from Dave’s album The Boy Who Played the Harp. “Raindance AI” is the name of the AI video trend that uses it, not a description of the song.

Is the pier scene from the official music video?

No. The official video, released on January 9, 2026, was filmed in Lagos, Nigeria. The two-person pier clips that go viral are fan-made AI videos that borrow the song and a romantic seaside look.

Who started the Raindance AI trend?

We could not verify the first post. Public pages about the trend appeared from late September 2026, but TikTok search results do not show a reliable earliest upload, so this page does not name an originator.

Do I need two people to do the trend?

The pier format is a duet: one seated role and one singing role. Raindance Maker needs one photo for each role; it has no solo mode.

Why are Raindance AI videos 4:3 instead of vertical?

The remake used as our template is 4:3. Raindance Maker keeps that framing so neither performer is cropped out. On TikTok a 4:3 video shows with bars above and below.
